IHSS Provider Recruitment

The IHSS Public Authority actively recruits IHSS caregivers for the Registry and Home Care Now on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in making a world of difference in the lives of the elderly and individuals with disabilities, contact us. We are looking for caring, compassionate, professional caregivers that can perform personal care and domestic services.

IHSS Caregivers can choose to be referred to IHSS Consumers for long-term and/or short-term employment opportunities. The Registry is ideal for those looking to be employed on a long-term basis. Caregivers have the option of choosing their availability and types of IHSS services they can perform. When available, IHSS Caregivers are referred to IHSS consumers who is requesting a referrral list and match the services and preferences provided by the IHSS consumer. Home Care Now/State Back-Up Programs are ideal for IHSS Caregivers looking for temporary, short-term employment opportunities. When IHSS Consumers request back-up caregiver services, Public Authority Staff will contact available Home Care Now/Back-Up Providers and coordinate assistance on a first come, first served basis.

Become An Eligible IHSS Provider

California requires persons interested in working as IHSS Caregivers/providers to complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the online state mandated IHSS Provider Orientation and Enrollment

  2. Attend an in-person orientation

  3. Pass a Department of Justice Criminal Background Check (Caregivers must pay for the background check). View Tier 1 and Tier 2 convictions that may exclude you from becoming an IHSS Provider.

IHSS Caregivers are Mandated Reporters

IHSS Caregivers/Providers are mandated to report suspected abuse or neglect. To make a report of suspected abuse and/or neglect of dependent adults or the elderly in Yolo County contact Adult Protective Services at 1(888)675-1115. To report suspected abuse or neglect of children under the age of 18, contact Child Welfare Services at (530) 669-2345.
