In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee Members
Kate Laddish, Chair
Chair, District 2 Representative
I’m an IHSS consumer, the current IHSS AC chair, and a Winters resident. In addition to advocating for IHSS, I’m enthusiastic about increasing civic engagement and bolstering emergency preparedness and response for vulnerable populations. I represent IHSS AC at the Yolo County Fire Safe Council, and serve on Yolo County’s Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Commission on Aging & Adult Services’ emergency prep subcommittee, Winters Natural Resources Commission, and the state’s Standardized Emergency Management System Alert & Warning Specialist Committee.
Steve Streeter, Vice Chair
District 3 Representative
I have been a resident of Davis & Yolo County since October 2001. My new job as Community Development Director for the City of Dixon led to moving with my family from Poway, California.
I am the oldest of six siblings with three sisters & two brothers. My Dad was a Presbyterian pastor. My Mom was an elementary/junior high teacher & junior high counselor.
After graduation from Shasta High in Redding, I attended Shasta College, San Jose State University & California State University, Chico.
I met my future wife Nancy Jones on a 1976 Seeker Leadership Study in the Americas, a trip to Latin America and Washington D.C. We were married in Moscow, Idaho in April 1977 with three pastors, one being my Dad. Nancy is a singer and actor who has performed at CSU Chico, Music Circus in Sacramento, Moonlight Amphitheatre in Vista, CA, Lawrence Welk Resort Theatre near Escondido, CA, Woodland Opera House and Davis Musical Theatre Company.
Our son Nathan joined our family in 1989 and was adopted into our family in 1990. He surpassed expectations in his nearly 32 years of life despite his physical disabilities and inability to speak. He received support from Community and Employment Services in Davis along with In-Home Supportive Services providers after graduation from Davis Senior High. His videography skills were developed by classes at Sacramento City College and Cosumnes River College. He was hired by the Communication and Technology Education Center to create instructional videos for speech device users. He passed away in March 2021 and saved the lives of a man and woman in California by organ donations.
Since residing in Davis, I have become involved in many volunteer committees, commissions and organizations, including University Covenant Church, Yolo Interfaith Alliance, Young Life, Americans with Disabilities Act Committee of the City of Davis, Yolo County Transportation District Citizens Advisory Committee, City of Davis Planning Commission, Davis Homelessness Alliance, Daytime Respite Center, Respite bus driver and the Davis Sunrise Rotary Club.
It has been my pleasure to serve on the IHSS Advisory Committee for two terms!
Valerie Vergara
Member At Large
My name is Valerie Vergara. I was interested in serving on the Yolo County IHSS Advisory Committee because I am passionate about integrated healthcare programs that help people live their lives to the fullest. Presently, I am an Associate Director for Life Sciences Strategic Sourcing at the Univ. of CA Regents office, and prior to that, I worked for many years at Novartis. I hold an MBA from University of Michigan and a B.S. in genetics from UC Davis. I am honored to serve as a member of the advisory committee, which I’ve found to be a dedicated team of folks with a “can-do” attitude.
Krissie Matta
District 5 Representative
I've been a Yolo County IHSS provider for 15 years. My love for my disabled husband has stirred a passion to serve the disabled and aging community. My hope as a new committee member is to advocate for this vital IHSS program and the people we serve.
Marcelo “Nunie” Matta

I became blind and disable in 1995 because of an allergic reaction to Penicillin. My heart to give hope through my life’s experiences with many good programs, organizations and people. I believe that senior and the disable should be able to live at home in their community with dignity and respect!
