Consumer Services
The Public Authority Registry serves as a way to connect IHSS consumers who are looking to hire IHSS caregivers. The Registry maintains a listing of caregivers looking for employment opportunities. Referral listings provided are consumer driven based on the consumer’s preferences and the caregiver’s availability. The service is free to both IHSS consumers and caregivers.
FREE CAREGIVER REFERRAL LISTINGS
Any Yolo County IHSS Consumer can call and request free caregiver referral lists or Back-Up Provider Program referrals. Listings are individualized to meet the preferences of each consumer. We value and support consumer choice!
Registry Referrals are not recommendations or endorsements but rather referrals to caregivers available for employment. We encourage consumers to interview, verify references, and assess each candidate’s qualifications before hiring anyone. IHSS Consumers are the employers of IHSS caregivers/providers and as such they hire, train, schedule, supervise and terminate the IHSS Caregivers/Providers.
IHSS Caregivers can assist you with activities of daily living such personal care, paramedical services, house cleaning, meal preparation and accompaniment to medical appointments. Each IHSS consumer is assessed to determine the type of services they need to remain safely in their homes.
About IHSS Services
The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program provides services to eligible persons over the age of 65, the blind and/or disabled. The program also serves children. The goal of the IHSS program is to allow you to live safely in your own home and avoid the need for out of home care. Services almost always need to be provided in your own home. This could be a house, apartment, hotel, or the home of a relative. If you receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or meet all Medi-Cal income eligibility requirements, you may be able to receive IHSS. IHSS is a Medi-Cal program and is funded by federal, state, and county dollars.

Once IHSS eligibility is established, you can hire one or more people to provide your care. A friend or relative may serve as your care provider, or a free Referral List may be obtained through the IHSS Public Authority Caregiver Registry.
